Event Information

Description

Reserve a pair of ice skates for a 1-hour rental.  Don't forget to invite your friends to sign-up!  

  1. Complete your reservation before arriving 
    • Payment will be required
    • A waiver will be signed by completing online reservation 
    • Review our cancellation policy
  2. Arrive at the Outdoor UW Office
    • The office is located on the lower level overlooking the lakefront on the west side of the Memorial Union.  
    • Arrive ~15 minutes before your reservation to make sure we have your skate size available, change, use the bathroom, or rent a locker. Locker rentals are available for $1 through our front desk at the time of your rental reservation.
  3. Skate!
    • Our team will help you get your skates and answer any questions you may have.  
  4. Return your skates!
    • Reservations are for one hour.  Should you want a longer time period, please sign up for an additional time slot.
    • Our staff will help you return your gear and make sure you have all of your belongings.  
    • Don't forget to visit the Union markets for food and drinks after your skating session!

Participants under 18:
If you are signing your child up for this event, just select the quantity of crafts you will need to accommodate your party. All participants under 18 must be accompanied by a legal guardian.

Participants over 18:
Select the number of skates you would like and then proceed with your payment. You will be prompted to enter your information and agree to our waiver. Follow the prompts until you are directed back to the event page and you are listed as a participant.  

PLEASE COME 15 MINUTES BEFORE THE EVENT TO ALLOW TIME TO BE FIT FOR SKATES 

  • Limited sizes of ice skates are available (Sizes 4-12) All skates are unisex hockey skates. 
  • Skates are rented out on a first-come, first-served basis.

Cancellation, Reschedule, and Refund Information
Cancellations made 24 hours in advance will receive a full refund. No-show reservations will not receive a refund. In the event of inclement weather, wind, or poor ice conditions, we will make every attempt to contact you before you arrive. All weather calls may be rescheduled or you will receive a full refund. Please call Outdoor UW at (608) 262-1630 or email outdooruw@union.wisc.edu to cancel or to reschedule.
Equipment/ Gear Required by Participant
Outdoor UW will provide rental ice skates, which must be worn during the entirety of a rental. Each renter is responsible for keeping track of the time during their rental, and any personal safety equipment (sunscreen, knee pads, wrist guards etc) or form of hydration. We do not allow alcohol on our skating rink or consumption of alcohol/drugs prior to rental. We reserve the right to turn away any renters who we believe to have consumed alcohol in close proximity to their rental time, or who may be attempting to bring alcohol into our recreating spaces. Lockers are available at the Outdoor UW front desk for $1.
